A supporter of Friendship Bridge and Lake Atitlan area resident Robert Hinshaw used oral histories to create two fictitious novels, “My Lake at the Center of the World,” and “The Rape of Hope”.

For The Rape of Hope, Robert Hinshaw interviewed Mayan lawyers, artists, politicians and religious leaders from 1963 through the 1980s to provide a look at indigenous rituals and beliefs between Indian and Latino people in the area.
