This handbeaded coin purse features the Mayan symbol for star (estrella), in rich jewel tones, blues, and metaliics. The Mayans were expert astronomers who meticulously charted the movements the stars. The color blue was significant to the Maya and was used throughout their culture and religious ceremonies to signify the god Chaak, their patron deity of rain and agriculture.
