Type: Accesories

In Mayan culture, horizontal zigzags as seen on this handbeaded coin purse were often the symbol for snakes—a tribute to the Maya Goddess Ixchel who wears a snake headdress. Ixchel is most commonly recognized as the goddess of the moon, medicine and midwifery, but she’s also remembered as the goddess of weaving.
